About Our Restaurant

Mescolanza is a cozy Italian restaurant nestled in the Richmond District of San Francisco. Known for its northern Italian menu, it features pasta (the house specialty is linguine limone), pizzetta (thin crust pizza), and main courses including veal, shrimp, and grilled fish of the day.

The restaurant was remodeled in late 1997, freshening up the decor and changing the look and feel of the restaurant. The hand-painted columns on the walls give the restaurant a more open look.

Our hours are SUN – THU 5:00 P.M. to 9.30 P.M. and FRI – SAT  5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Our Recycling Award!

Mescolanza was pleased to be awarded second place at the 2002 CORY (Commercial Recycler of the Year) award in the small restaurant category (under 25 employees). The awards are sponsored by a combination of public, private, and civic organizations. Other categories included large office buildings, small office buildings, large hotels, small hotels, and large restaurants. We at Mescolanza have long done our part to be responsible recyclers; we won the award in our category in 2001. We separate glass, aluminum cans, paper products, and food waste. All of the employees in our restaurant are aware of and share our concern for the environment; the award is an acknowledgement of all of our efforts.

About the Owners

The owners, Ruben and Maria Macedo, purchased the restaurant from the previous owners in November, 1998. Ruben has worked at the restaurant since it opened in 1987, beginning as the pizza cook.. It's not unusual for Ruben and Maria to begin their day with a trip to the produce market in the morning, do all the prep work in the early afternoon, work in the kitchen while the restaurant is open, and even do all the cleanup after everyone else has gone home.
